Sick of shooter sets, Army of Two new design director in Montreal, developers first game released in 2012 on PSN.
Vander Caballero is the trade in Salem and Rios for an even stranger pair of protagonists in his next game. The Army of Two design director ended today with his new club, a minority, and the first project, the PlayStation Network title Papo & Yo public.
Set for release next year, Papo & Yo a 3D puzzle adventure game on a boy named Quico and his best friend monster centered. Unfortunately, an addiction to Monster poisonous frogs and flies into an uncontrollable rage when he eats them. Although he is in grave danger Quico would help rather than fleeing monsters before him, and the game is to follow the boy as he searches for a cure. A post on the PlayStation Blog, Caballero said the game largely about his father, whom he described as "a good man, but also a bad one." Described
"How many, he alcohol and drugs, to be dealt with a difficult life, and I was caught in the middle of it," Caballero said. "The emotional core of this game is ultimately a tale of my relationship with my father."
Papo & Yo is the debut feature from Montreal-based minority, which was founded last year Caballero in collaboration with the production company Rezolution Pictures. With a stated goal of the presentation of emotionally evocative potential of games, Minority describes itself as "the home of passionate, experienced developers who could not bear to develop another shooter game."
Minority is always an assist from Sony in the creation of Papo & Yo, since the game is the newest participant in the PlayStation maker 's PubFund program. The indie game developer outreach program has helped a number of PSN titles on the market, including Joe Danger, hoard, and Explodemon Burn Zombie Burn.
