There was time in the early days of the PlayStation, when beautiful 2.5D platformers with 3D backgrounds were being released on a fairly regular basis. I loved them all, as they combined my love of side-scrolling platform games with the new, fancy technology of 3D graphics.
In Phantomile, many citizens have trouble remember their dreams, because the entire world lives even of those dreams. This is why dreams are very light and fluffy, never really latch on the minds and memories of people Phantomile.
Right at the beginning of the game, but Klonoa has a very clear dreams - the clearest he has had in years! - Over a giant airship crashes into a mountain.
Days later, this event actually happens!
Curious as always, takes his best friend to go Klonoa Huepow investigate the mysterious crash.
When they reach the crash site, and discover Klonoa Huepow two foreboding creatures. One is called Ghadius and the other is his servant, a creepy clown named Joka. Both show that for a mystical followers of them endless amounts of power searching.
Before departure, hijack Ghadius and a young woman named Joka Lephise.
Enraged, Klonoa sets out to defeat the horrible antagonist.
At this moment, Huepow appears. He isn't actually dead! The two are ecstatic to see each other.
But Klonoa senses something is wrong. Huepow is not speaking and is acting different. He is distracted by something.
Klonoa is shocked.
Huepow away, revealing all Klonoa. He tells how he called Klonoa Phantomile from another world, for the balance of dreams.
Klonoa doesn't believe any of it. He tells Huepow how he remembers growing up in Phantomile. He remembers living a life with Huepow. He remembers the day he met. The times they used to play together.
Klonoa Huepow told these are all false memories that he implanted in the head when he was brought to Phantomile.
Klonoa Phantomile not reality.
Klonoa begins to fret. He can not believe what he hears.

The influence
I like to think it has a great deal with the fact that I would never in a million years expected to be the story in a game have moved as Klonoa But for some reason, I actually shed a tear (or two) at the end of the game.
The song is beautiful and really adds to the scene's emotions.
